Dear Sarah E. Goode STEM Academy Families:

On April 4th and 5th, 2017, Chicago Public Schools will be administering the PSAT/SAT to all 9th-11th graders. The SAT is an official college admittance exam and is a graduation requirement for all current juniors. The PSAT allows students to track their progress and set goals for the SAT; additionally, it is used as an accountability measure for school performance.

Here are a few important details about PSAT/SAT Testing Day. Please read all details carefully.

-The SAT will be administered to 11th graders only on April 5, 2017. This will be a non-attendance day for all 9th, 10th, and 12th graders. All 11th graders will be offered lunch after testing; however, it is not mandatory that they stay for lunch. Lunch and dismissal will begin at 1:20 PM and all students will be dismissed by 2:00 PM.

-The PSAT will be administered to 9th and 10th graders only on April 4, 2017. However, it is a regular attendance day for 11th and 12th graders and all students will be dismissed at the regular time 2:19 PM.

-Student arrival will take place from 7:00 AM – 7:30 AM. The cafeteria will be open at 7:00 AM to serve breakfast to students who need it.

-Students that arrive after 8:00 AM will be will NOT be permitted to take their exams; this is a national exam and all preadministration activities must begin at 8:00 AM in order to follow strict national guidelines.

-All students are required to turn in all cell phones and electronic devices prior to entering testing rooms. Cell phones are NOT PERMITTED in testing rooms under any circumstances. Cell phones will be labeled and placed in ziplock bags, and will be kept locked and secured. If students do not want to turn in their cell phones, they should not bring their cell phones to school at all.

-Students MUST bring the following items on testing day:

oStudent ID
